Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of unmute.video ("the Service"), operated by Unmute, LLC ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What the Service does

unmute.video fetches the captions of a YouTube video you specify, displays them, and optionally generates an AI summary or translation, or delivers them by email. We do not host, stream, or re-distribute the underlying video.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to scrape, republish, or redistribute YouTube content in violation of YouTube's Terms of Service or applicable law.
• Re-sell the Service or its outputs as a standalone commercial product.
• Use the Service to train machine-learning models on third-party content without the appropriate rights.
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, abuse the free tier, or interfere with our infrastructure.
• Use the Service for any illegal purpose, including copyright infringement, defamation, or harassment.

We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access at any time if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms.

3. Pro license

• Purchasing Pro unlocks unlimited transcript fetches, unlimited AI summaries and translations, and email delivery.
• Your license key is for your personal or single-business use. You may use it across your own devices. You may not share, resell, or publicly post it.
• If your key is shared at scale, we may deactivate it without refund.

4. Payment & refunds

• Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's terms.
• Refund policy: we'll refund any Pro purchase within 14 days of payment, no questions asked. Email hi@unmute.video with your receipt.
• If we change pricing, the new price applies only to new purchases; your existing license is unaffected.

5. Intellectual property

• We do not own the transcripts the Service returns — those are derived from captions created by YouTube creators or YouTube's auto-caption system.
• You are responsible for ensuring your use of any transcript complies with copyright law and YouTube's terms.
• Our software, branding, and page design are our own. Do not copy or reproduce them without permission.

6. Third-party dependencies

The Service relies on external providers (YouTube, Supadata, Anthropic, Resend, Stripe, Netlify). Their availability affects ours. We are not liable for outages or changes in their services.

7. Accuracy and disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

In particular: caption accuracy is determined by YouTube; AI-generated summaries and translations may be incorrect or incomplete; we do not guarantee any particular transcript, video, or language will be available. Verify anything important before relying on it.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above; continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or legal or operational reasons, with or without notice.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
