unmute.video ("we", "us") is operated by Unmute, LLC.
This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

1. What we collect
YouTube URLs you paste. We use the video ID to fetch the transcript and, if you ask, to generate a summary or translation.
Your IP address. Stored only to apply our daily free-tier rate limits and prevent abuse. We do not sell or share it.
Your email address — only if you use the "Email me the transcript" feature, or purchase Pro. Used to deliver the email you requested or your license key.
Your Pro license key, if you have one. Stored in your browser's localStorage (never sent to us except as part of an API call to validate it).
Payment information, if you purchase Pro. Handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
Server logs. Netlify records standard request logs (URL, IP, user-agent, timestamp) for security and debugging. Retained ~30 days.
We do not use tracking cookies, ad pixels, session recording, or analytics that profile users.
2. Third parties that process data for us
Netlify — hosting and serverless functions. Sees request metadata (IP, URL, headers).
Supadata — fetches YouTube transcripts on our behalf. Receives the video ID only.
Anthropic (Claude) — generates AI summaries and translations. Receives the transcript text you've asked to summarize or translate. Per Anthropic's policy, API content is not used to train their models.
Resend — delivers the emails we send (transcripts, license keys). Receives the recipient email and message body.
Stripe — processes payments. Receives your email, card details, and payment amount. Governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
YouTube / Google — we call YouTube's public oEmbed endpoint to retrieve video title and channel. No personal data is sent.
3. How long we keep things
Cached transcripts: up to 30 days, keyed by video ID and language. Not associated with users.
Rate-limit counters: reset daily. Keyed by IP.
License records: retained as long as your license is active, plus a reasonable period afterward for refund handling and dispute resolution.
Email logs (Resend): per Resend's retention policy (typically 30–90 days of send logs).
Server logs: ~30 days.
4. Your rights
You can request deletion of any data tied to you (license record, email history) by emailing
hi@unmute.video. We'll confirm and delete within 30 days.
If you're in the EU/UK, you have additional rights under GDPR (access, correction, portability, objection);
we'll honor them.
To clear your license key from this device, click "Save key" with the field empty, or clear your browser's
localStorage for this site.
5. Children
This service is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect their data.
6. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for Pro customers with a
known email on file, send a notice.
